I am originally from Stourbridge in the West Midlands, I have just completed my degree in Zoology at the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus. It is the perfect place to study Zoology or any bioscience, what wildlife and beauty on your doorstep! It is a challenging and interesting course that sets you up for a career as a scientist, or indeed whatever you put your mind to. As a result, through independent study, voluntary work and the modules taken as part of my degree I have consequently been able to gain and develop many skills which can be transferred and adapted for many professions such as: written, visual and oral communication, time management, statistical analysis, problem solving skills, laboratory and fieldwork methodology and a curiosity to learn more. During my time at University, I have acquired an increasing interest and appreciation for nature and its diversity. I have become particularly passionate for behavioural ecology, fisheries management and marine conservation. I am particularly interested in the anthropogenic impacts on marine ecosystems and how these pressures can be mitigated or alleviated to reduce stress on these now fragile ecosystems.
During my spare time I love to sing, I have been part of many projects and regularly help to run workshops, singing days and residentials with the choir Stream of Sound from the West Midlands. At University, I sing in Viva Voce the campus chamber choir for which I was a committee member from 2012-2013, and a small group of young singers called the Midnight Singers. I am also part of a quartet that is just starting up. I find great fulfillment in teaching people young and old music from different traditions that they perhaps haven't come across before, and to aid the younger members of the choir as they develop their own teaching and leadership skills.
As well as singing, I play tennis. I competed relatively successfully and I have played in team matches for Stourbridge tennis club and now more recently Blakedown tennis club. I am an avid reader and I enjoy reading many different genres.

I’m a keen volunteer, having volunteered for many organisations such as PDSA, Blue Cross, RSPB, National Trust, Looe Monkey sanctuary, AK Wildlife cruises, Falmouth Aquarium and most recently the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. It is really worth while trying to get volunteering experience whether alongside your degree so that you gain more employability skills or if it is just something that interests you, you'll learn so much, meet some wonderful people, wonderfully charismatic animals if you choose to gain some experience working with animals as well as some unforgettable memories!
